Till now, 99 smart cities had been selected under the Smart Cities Mission and now with the selection of Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya, the mission to select 100 smart cities has been accomplished. The UP government has set aside a sum of Rs. 40 billion which will be used for land acquisition for the Noida International Greenfield Airport project near Jewar. As per the report, Noida Development Authority and the State Civil Aviation Department will share approximately the same amount while the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and Greater Noida Authority will contribute Rs 500 crore each. The government of India has given its nod to a proposal for construction of a bridge over river Ganga in Allahabad. To bridge to be constructed is 10-km long and will be build at a cost of Rs 1,948 crore. The bridge once completed will solve the traffic congestion on the existing 2-lane Phaphamau bridge.
